"Missing cuff links"

Image
A changed man. A gentleman. She cut me off from the world again. She the reason why my wheel of fortune stopped spinning; & stopped on her, I'm a winner! I'm winning. Masquerade ball, Gon take your masks off. Cause who you hiding from when we know what you are? And we know who you are? And perfect we're so far - from, Just look at all the things that we've overcome. I walked right out the house and forgot my cuff links. Now I'm hoping I'm able to hold it together. Cause this my first date. Ever. And could be my last one, Forever. I hope not. Don't mind the pieces falling. Loose slipknot, I’ll think twice before retying it. My heart is vulnerable, So think twice before you try it, Don't try me. I pray I get home and the pieces find me. Cause if you find them first, well then I might get hurt. You're good at digging up dirt. But you're so worth, The risks....    ...

"Something like a love poem; I guess"

Image
I want to; bite your lip while  you're  in mid-sentence. And then suck your exes name right out of your mouth, just to make sure he never comes up in conversations between you & me. I'm going to be one hundred, I am not a love poet. In fact, every time I write about love; my hands cramp & I lose my train of thought. I guess to show me how painful & often misguided love can be. And sometimes; my pencils break or my pen runs out of ink. Probably to prove to me that every now and then love takes love takes a little more work than you’ve planned. See I heard that love is blind so, I wrote all this brail. And my love poems never actually get finished because I've heard true love is endless. I'm a firm believer that real love is kind of equivalent to a model before she's air brushed; It's pure & imperfect the way it naturally is, the way God intended it to be. See, I am not a love poet. But if I was to wake up tomo...

"Dreamville"

Image
Dreamville; This is scheme ville. Where kids learn to plan things out, This is real life. This is pain hiding, secret keeping. Cause we don't want no drama, and we don't want no leakage; No tears. Though we shed them all through the years; we keep em'; to ourselves. We supposed to fight the urge, Can't believe they had the nerve, To try and come & purge; Us out the system; They don't want us to make it, They see us as ignorant black people, We see us as risk takers. So, take your risk. White man gon take his pick. You Cop that ice for your wrist, {He exchange that, For the chain set} They only wanna see us locked in cages like we wild. They don't wanna give us trials, They don't wanna hear us out. But we in Dreamville, they gon have to hear us now. Dreamville: "where we tell stories about how we made it out" This is Dreamville. This Schemeville; I'm writing my dreams, ...

"Set In Stone" (Open Mic)

Momma always told me I'd be successful. Money can change everything; i knew that before Drake said that. Envy’s in their blood, I see it in their eyes. They leave me with no choice, They hate, I leave them with no lives. They don't have no lives because they always on mine. I be on these hater’s minds like lice. With passion I write, so keep your parasites out of sight. Antibacterial, the stereo is sterilized. Word to my poetry, rarely will i ever lie. Don't have the mind for it, don't have the time for it; I'm always up. And therefore if I wrote this they already know it, It set in stone in my poems there ain't nothing bogus. If money talks then I'm silent at times; Other times I'm Chris tucker, fly like snuka, i do not pop, through these lines I rupture. Add me, erase me, pay me; it's nothing. You said "it's always something; with you" I said; "it's nothing" Simply give me ...
