My Broken World [Needs You] (2013)
In every poem,
In every rant.
I would cry,
But men can't.
This world is cold.
Every cut,
Every pill,
Every life addiction's stolen.
Every thought.
Act of silence,
All the commotion,
Acts of violence.
Signs of broken people.
Every poem I write's a story,
Every story is the truth.
Every bottle that I touch,
I drown my sorrows in the proof.
The fake smiles I smile.
Every tear I shed at this subjugation.
Every heart that ever showed me love,
Everyone that knows my greatness.
Every sigh,
Every fight.
All the darkness,
Hardly light.
All signs that we need you, now, in our lives.
Every heartbreak,
Every tissue soaked with lachrymal.
Every scar that's yet to heal,
Every argument,
Every frown ,
Every law - that wasn't real.
Every whisper in the mind,
Every shadow of a heart.
Lord, we need you more this time.
Every phone call,
Every "I'm sorry, this isn't working."
Every whisper late at night,
Every love that makes one feel worthless.
Every corner that's for hiding.
Every destructive, demeaning statement.
Every hit, shove, insult
Every tear on their faces.
My broken world needs you,
Too much talk of what we should do.
Wonder why we never do it.
Our society has some screws lose, lord, we need you to help us through it.
It's easier to speak.
It's difficult to make things happen.
The world needs you, lord.
Lord, this broken world needs balance.
