"Rise of lady Phoenix"
He told her not to move,
But she rose.
He wrote her down in history with his bitter, twisted
lies.
He treated her like dirt, and was never there when she
hurt or she cried.
She was like his personal punching bag.
She often wondered if he liked black & blue eyes.
No contact, for weeks he would push her to the side.
Treat her like dirt, but like dust, still she'd rise.
"Does my sassiness offend you?"
She quoted Ms. Angelou.
He kicked her to the ground,
And laughed at her frown.
Took her away from
the moon, and the sun.
Her life was low
& high tides.
But he never took her sense of pride,
And still, she'd rise.
"Do you want to see me broken? Bowed head &
lowered eyes?"
She cries.
Weakened by tears, but strengthened by God.
Still, she'd rise.
His disdainment comes as no surprise.
She only wishes he would've been honest.
Before they first locked eyes.
He shoots her with his words,
He cuts her - with his eyes.
He's so filled with hate towards her,
She doesn't know why but yet, like smoke, still she'd
rise.
I wonder:
Did she lose her appeal?
Is that why he lies?
Does she dance like she has jewels at the meeting of her
thighs?
Why abuse; the "lady of his life"?
Why breakdown; someone he once wanted to be his wife?
It’s Hard to understand.
Out of the pain of his lashes.
Phoenix rises from the ashes.
Up from a time that was rooted in hatred.
Phoenix rise.
A black queen buried under abuse, wailing and squirming,
trying to escape the noose - that's his hands.
She bears in the tide of tears.
Praying to God, he brings her out of this terror, and
fear.
Phoenix rise.
Into a daybreak that's wondrously beautiful & clear.
Phoenix rise.
I am here. Someone who would love to hear; your story.
Let me know how far you came.
You are the dream and the hope of future women.
Open your eyes.
Erase that guy, from your mind.
Let the scars subside.
Rise Phoenix, rise
